Reach Fair is opened on the Fair Green at midday by the Mayor of Cambridge, accompanied by Aldermen in their full regalia and then penny coins are scattered for the benefit of the children The Fair is one of the oldest still running in the UK, as the plaque shows, it started in 1201 and is by Royal Charter The main event of Reach Fair is undoubtedly the Fairground and here we see one of the many rides that there are, check out the top deck! And the dodgems are always popular, for young and old . . . . The Sizzler is another favourite - and really needs a video to show how fast it is moving! The Swings are more sedate but still loads of fun Villagers staff the tea tent, organised and sophisticated . . . . Villagers also staff the bottle stall . . . . The big wheel has been coming to the Fair for many years - this is the view from the top of it And this is the view of it from the garden of the Dyke's End, the best pub in England! The garden of the Dyke's End is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by There's two Arenas at the Fair, providing live entertainment. The Fair Green Arena features the excellent Graham Buxton and the one the younger children love, pictured above, is Jezo's Magic Show! The Top Field Arena features entertainment, including a variety of dancers, Punch and Judy and our Tug o' War - pictured above are Performance Without Limits who regularly entertain us Also on the top field are our Craft and Retail stalls, here you see Safta's Funtasy Facepainting taking place The Last One Standing attraction is hugely popular on the Top Field and this is wheremost of our Food Stalls are, too many to mention here but you can see who's coming along on our What's On! page
